Our future...

Do you remember how we were in class 8 (those who did class 8) the way we were to read for excess hours in order to get marks that would take us to “the high school”?
Well, if we thought we read a lot its nothing compared to what today’s kids go through.
I have a kid bro who’s doing the big exam. This is his program
Monday to Friday

7:00am to 5:00pm: school
5:00pm: go home
5:30pm to 10:00pm: homework/tuition

Saturday
7:00am to 2:00pm: School
2:00 to 4:00pm homework

When will he relax? Play? Socialise? Grow?
I’m worried!!
I hope I’m not alone.

Hey T

Its just a passing thing. Much as it pains me that school kids nowadays carry backpacks worthy of someone crossing the Northpole I do look back and see how the hard times back then moulded my character.

Play and socialising are included in the curriculum under the headings: PE, Breaktime and Lunchtime.

And its only a year...

Good luck to him!!!

Good luck to your little brother - I dont think 8-4-4 did us any favours, or the education system as a whole - although my nine year old niece speaks French - dayum - but people should be encouraged to specialise - to an extent, in as young an age as is possible - doing 14 (or whatever) subjects that are given equal weight irrespective of personal preference is a bit taxing - but that is just my opinion.

I wish I could go back to school and start all over (an: If I knew then, what I know now, moment right there )

i do feel your pain! even after all these years, i can honestly say that ive never been stressed like i was in std.8.lakini I think your bro can handle it. for me, school was 7am-7pm. sato it was 8-4.you would go to school praying that youve crammed your ngeli's properly, otherwise yani you would be bonding with another cane, appropriately named 'something black'! yani!!!!yanii! that school!i dont know how i went through all that. but the thing is we also played hard whenever we could which was mad fun.
did it benefit me?hmmm,in that i learnt how to persevere , yes. but they should definitley cut down on random subjects.
anywho, have a nice day.
